The Professor, The Mayonnaise Jar and Two Cups of Hot Chocolate.

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of hot chocolate.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.... He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous “yes."

The professor then produced two cups of hot chocolate from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favourite passions and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical check-ups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18 holes. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first--the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the hot chocolate represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of hot chocolate with a friend."

What Would You Do?

It’s never too late to learn something new; it’s never too late to take your first step towards a dream. In just starting you have become one step closer to your goals than you were yesterday.

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you have failed to use during that day.
What Would You Do?!
Withdraw out every cent? Of course you would! Each of us has this bank account, its’ name is ‘time’. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds or 1,440 minutes. Every night your time is written off as a loss. Whatever time you failed to invest into a good purpose, has been lost forever. Your time carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it burns the remains of your day away. If you fail to use your day's deposits, it is your loss. There is no drawing against Tomorrow. You must live in the present on today's time deposit. Invest with it wisely, to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success. Your clock is running. So make the most of today!
Time is the most precious thing we have. It comes free to use, and the more we invest in it wisely the more we will be given in return. So ask yourself, what do you want to do with your $86,400 today?

Why we should exercise

Running on pathWhen we are growing up, we would run from point A to point B as much as we were allowed, not to get fit or to stay in shape, but simply for the pure joy of running. It was our only sense of freedom. We didn't know how to ride a bike or maybe didn't have a bike. But we had 2 legs, and these 2 legs could make us go as fast as we could go. The rush of feeling the wind whirling past your ears, as we ran down the hill, the feeling we would get from the adrenalin rush and the feeling of our hearts pounding from our chest, would send chills throught our bodies. We had no clue what was happening to our bodies, what the effects would be, yet it was the one thing that we could do to make us feel alive. So now looking back at this time in our lives, do you think we can feel that same pure joy? Of course we can! As adults we get so caught up in controlling our lives, so much, that we miss even the most important things, ourselves.  When was the last time you did something not because you had too but because you can, whether is riding a bike, playing basketball or seeing your closet friend show you something they think is their amazing ability. The feelings that we get from doing these types of things, is the same feelings and emotions your body experiences through exercise. We often think exercise is a task oriented activity, but if you stick to what makes you feel the best, you will be amazed at what you can achieve. Instead of trying to meet ‘the government exercise guidelines’ try to just go out there, simply to experience and explore. If you keep active regularly doing these things that make you feel good, you will feel more vibrant, have less stress and find yourself wanting to do more. When we do these kinds of activities when exercising regularly, you too will start to notice this incredible feeling of chills going throughout your body, these chills will distinctly remind you of when you were a child, just playing about, this connection that your body has with its past experiences will make you feel alive again. So go out there experience and explore, be active, become you and be vibrant.

Little lesson’s in Health.

-          General rule of healthy food.

In today’s world, do we really know what we are eating? We all trust what labels are telling us about their products, but please remember a label is also there to get your attention and sell  the product. For people who are trying to improve their health this is becoming a problem, everything is too confusing and there are so many things that we need to know in order to make the right decision. To make this harder the people that are giving this ‘advice’ to you for free, are usually trying to change your knowledge of health and sell you their product. Therefore most of what they tell you is incorrect or worded in a way to make you think they are saying something different. This does not help when you are trying to learn. In Health it can be said that ‘if it comes out of the ground or from a tree it is healthy’. For meat think ‘if the animal has 0-2 legs then it is good and 4 legs is bad’ these are the best rule of thumb. So if you can take anything from this message take that. So in a world where these labels are saying ‘98% fat free’, ‘98% less fat’ or ‘98% reduced fat’, you need to remember that these figures are there to grab your attention. Yes it sounds great but we now need to think about what has come out of the product and what has gone into the product to make it ‘98% fat free’?

For example if I buy spicy chilli Tuna 98% fat free and the other is just normal sweet chilli tuna which is the healthier option? The next question most people will ask is, what is the calorie intake? The spicy chilli Tuna 98% fat free is 98 Cal and the normal sweet chilli tuna is 161 Cal. Which is healthier? Most would now say the spicy chilli Tuna 98% fat free, because it has less caloric intake. However, we are missing the key issue here, remember that in order for something to be 98% fat free, something needs to be taken out and something needs to be put back in to make it taste the same. The thing we now need to focus on are the ingredients. In the 98% fat free additives have been added to give it the same taste as the regular tuna. Now ask yourself, are your livers designed to break down non-natural chemicals? No, our livers are not. So in this example it would take longer for our bodies to break down the spicy chilli 98% fat free tuna, therefore the normal sweet chilli tuna is the healthier option. This is because the normal sweet chilli tuna is able to be broken down by the body a lot quicker, hence it will not store as fat and it will be promoting a healthier system.

This problem of enhanced chemicals in our diet is becoming all too common in the health and[S1]  food industry. So even when you’re thinking ‘if it comes out of the ground or off a tree it is good’ and ‘if the animal has 0-2 legs then it is good and 4 legs is bad’, make sure you read the nutritional content to confirm it has no added chemicals. If this is the case then you can be safe that you are consuming healthy produce.
